Frequently Asked Questions
Are inflatable air mattress comfortable?
Air mattresses can be comfortable, but their comfort largely depends on the quality, how they are set up, and how long they are used. They work well for short-term sleeping, especially when properly inflated and paired with a mattress topper and can be surprisingly comfortable for a few nights. Air mattresses are best suited for guest beds, temporary sleeping arrangements, camping with proper padding or insulation, and for kids or light sleepers. However, they are not ideal for long-term or permanent use, particularly for people with back pain, side sleepers without extra padding, or anyone who needs a mattress for everyday sleeping.
How long an air mattress should stay inflated?
The time an air mattress maintains its firmness depends on material, seam construction, valve quality, and air chamber design: High-quality air mattresses typically stay fully inflated for 24 hours to several days without noticeable air loss.
Aerogogo air mattresses are engineered for long-lasting inflation. Thanks to high-strength nylon fabric with TPU coating, reinforced full-edge seams, double high-seal valves, and ergonomic air chamber design, they maintain comfort and firmness for weeks of regular use, even in different seasons and for adult users.
How much weight can an air mattress hold?
An air mattress can usually hold 330 to 660 pounds (150–300 kg), depending on its size, design, and build quality. The single-size sleeping pad supports up to 330 lbs, while the double-size sleeping pad supports up to 660 lbs. To protect your air mattress, always stay below the maximum weight limit, avoid sitting or standing on the edges, and remember that overloading can shorten its lifespan even if it doesn't fail immediately.
What is R-value and why does it matter?
The R-value measures how well a sleeping pad insulates you from the cold ground.
Typical guide:
- R 1–2: summer camping
- R 2–4: spring & fall
- R 4+: cold weather camping
Higher R-values provide better insulation.
Are sleeping pads comfortable for side sleepers?
Yes. Our air mattresses are designed with thicker air chambers and a supportive internal structure that provides excellent pressure relief for the hips and shoulders, making them comfortable even for side sleepers.
Can a sleeping pad be used directly on the ground?
Yes, but it is recommended to place it on a tent floor, groundsheet, or footprint to protect it from sharp objects like rocks or sticks.
What sizes are available?
Our air mattresses are typically available in the following sizes:
- Single – ideal for one person
- Full / Double – more space for one sleeper or compact for two
We also offer a Connectable Air Mattress: easily link two single mattresses into a double using side connectors.
How to make air mattress more comfortable?
- Don’t overinflate: Fill to about 90–95% so it contours to your body and fully supports your head and neck, especially on the air mattress with a built-in pillow.
- Add padding if desired: Memory foam topper, camping pad, or thick blanket boosts comfort for extra softness.
- Use proper bedding: A fitted sheet and a mattress protector add warmth and prevent sliding.
- Insulate from the floor: Place a rug, mat, or blanket underneath to block cold and hardness; the Aerogogo high RV value air mattress ensures all-season comfort, keeping you warm even on cold floors.
- Adjust after a few hours: Top off air once the mattress stretches; this helps maintain an even, comfortable surface throughout the night.
